So, for anyone who is a) reading this and b) in or around Pittsburgh, Maggie's farm is having its (apparently) annual fair, with food and music and speakers. It's on June 20th, from 1-8. There are apparently a limited number of tickets (i'm writing this while sitting in the Cafe) and they are $10 for adults. So that seems cool.

Of particular note, Derrick Jensen (writer of Endgame, anarcho-environmentalist) will be speaking. And that would be pretty ridiculously awesome to see. Or at least interesting. Very interesting. I unfortunately won't be able to go. But if someone does (and maybe post on here to figure out carpools?) let me know how it goes.

Maggie's farm is located in Armbrust, PA just outside of Pittsburgh. The farm grows organic produce, and it is run by a woman named Maggie who also has her own vegan/organic cafe (Maggie's Mercantile) on Craig St. where she uses some of the vegetables that she grows.

If you haven't checked out Maggie's Mercantile, I suggest you try it. The food is a bit pricey but it's delicious and Maggie does her best to take environmentally responsible measures--biodegradable cups, organic food, etc.
