 Plastic Pollution
An environmental issue that scares me more than global warming.
Some interesting videos on the newest continent (A.K.A. The floating plastic island in the middle of the pacific):

Why the issue goes beyond landfills:

I hope this wasn't too depressing, but unfortunately a lot of environmental concerns are these days.

 Re: Plastic Pollution
One of these days I am going to make a film called "A Day Without Plastic" Where I can't use anything that contains plastic. I can't go and make or buy anything to replace anything plastic in my home. I have to go with what I got. It should be interesting. The only thing I really want is some good video recording equipment. I would like to publish it someday...not just on YouTube.

 Re: Plastic Pollution
Check out 'Fake Plastic Fish' for some inspiration... that would be really interesting to see. How is plastic pollution in the lakes? I know it's bad in the oceans.

 Re: Plastic Pollution
Ha! Our lakes are polluted by people themselves Just by building up their shores...

 Re: Plastic Pollution
That's a good point, I don't hear too much about plastic waste issues in lakes. I guess it's because lakes don't act as the lowest point in a liquid water system for as many people as the ocean does. With lakes, I think it's more chemical pollution that's the issue...right?

 Re: Plastic Pollution
Kelly: I hope you make the "A Day Without Plastic Film." I would love to see it.
I wrote a report for a sustainability class a few semesters ago where I simply started listing everything I could think of in my apartment that is made of plastic. I got to like 40 objects and got frustrated.
