In a list of things our world is built on, the abundant use of energy for transport, electricity, and heating should be in the top few items. But much of that energy (at least in the Pittsburgh area) is based on coal and other fossil fuels – so looking at ways to reduce total use or change where it comes from can be big steps in lowering environmental impacts.
Energy projects focus on either energy production and/or energy savings. Examples include installing wind or solar systems, increasing the efficiency of lightbulbs, capturing energy from new places (University gyms, flowing rivers), or using energy in different ways. Projects are listed below.
